Nancy Weeks Receives National Award

Nancy Weeks, Haskell County Treasurer, has achieved the highest degree in the continuing education program provided by the Kansas County Treasurers Association and Fort Hays State University. Having completed the 96 hours of education, she now has earned the designation of Certified Kansas County Finance Executive (CFE). She has also earned the highest degree offered by the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers and The University of Tennessee. Having completed 100 hours of education she has earned the designation of Certified Finance Master. Last year Nancy Weeks has completed the highest degree offered by the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers and The University of Missouri at St. Louis. She has completed 100 hours of education and has earned the designation of Certified Finance Master. She must complete at least 6 hours a year to keep that designation. Nancy served as President of the Kansas County Treasurer Association in 1982 and again in 1996. She has been elected by her peers to serve as the Legislation Chairperson of the Kansas County Treasurers Association for a number of years. She has also served on the Kansas Association of Counties Board of Directors. Currently she is serving as President of The Kansas County Officials Association. (KCOA) That organization is made up of elected County Clerks, Register of Deeds and County Treasurers. The National Association
of County Treasurers and Finance Officers awarded Nancy Weeks the "Victor
E. Martinelli Outstanding Treasurer in the United States Award" for
2001. This award is presented annually by NACTFO to a person who serves
as a leader in their home state, a professional of the highest caliber
in the operation of their own county office and actively involved with
NACTFO on a National level for at least two years. "I feel very honored to have
been selected to win this award. I had no idea I had been nominated
and was totally surprised to learn I had been selected as the winner.
I share this honor with the voters of Haskell County who have given
me the opportunity to serve as their County Treasurer for a number of
years. I appreciate each one of you," says Nancy Weeks. The Haskell County Commissioner's appointed Nancy Weeks to serve as Haskell Counties representative on the Board of Directors for Southwest Developmental Services, Inc. (SDSI) She is currently the chairperson of that Board. |
