County Attorney

Function of Department

The Haskell County Attorney's office is responsible for the prosecution of all state felony criminal cases, misdemeanors, traffic offenses which occur outside of city limits, juvenile offender cases, Child in Need of Care, and Care & Treatment actions. Some cases will be turned over to special prosecutors, to include the Kansas Attorney General's office, where conflicts of interest arise or when the county's interest (cost, resources, etc.) is better served by outside prosecution.

The department also serves as an information resource for crime victims and partner agencies. The department does not provide legal advice and does not engage in civil matters. The County Attorney's Office is not a repository of public information and does not provide copies of court or police records; the District Court or police agency should be a citizen's primary contact for records requests.

Mission Statement

The County Attorney's Office will serve the people of Haskell County by seeking truth and justice in the prosecution of criminal acts, and administration of care or treatment cases, occurring within Haskell County.
