COVID-19 RESOLUTION

HASKELL COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. 11-19-20-20

A RESOLUTION AND ORDER OF HASKELL COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MODIFYING THE GOVERNOR’S EXECUTIVE ORDER

PURSUANT TO K.S.A. 48-925.

 

            NOW, on this 19th day of November, 2020, a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Haskell County, Kansas, hereafter referred to as “BOCC”, is called and the following resolution is duly made and approved:

            WHEREAS, this county and both the state and federal governments have declared a public health emergency due to the COVID-19 global pandemic;

            WHEREAS, Governor Kelly has issued or will issue Executive Order No. 2020-68 which requires the wearing of masks in public;

            WHEREAS, K.S.A. 48-925(h) allows for the BOCC to issue an order relating to public health that includes provisions that are less stringent than the executive order issued by the Governor.

            WHEREAS, Haskell County has forty (40) active COVID-19 cases;

            WHEREAS, the BOCC has on this date, at this meeting, consulted with Vada Winger, Local Health Program Administrator; and

            WHEREAS, following such consultation, implementation of the full scope of the provisions in the Governor’s executive order are not necessary to protect the public health and safety of the county.

            NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED, that:

            1.         The BOCC makes the following relevant findings pursuant to K.S.A. 48-925(h):

                        a.         Haskell County has forty (40) active COVID-19 cases.

                        b.         Haskell County has two (2) current hospitalizations for COVID-19.

                        c.         Haskell County has had one (1) death from COVID-19

            2.         Social distancing and the wearing of masks are strongly recommended, but not required, for all persons in Haskell County.  Residents are also strongly encouraged, but not required, to properly sanitize all public areas.

3.         This resolution and all requirements under the same are effective as of November 25, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. and shall continue in effect for as long as Executive Order No. 2020-68 remains in effect unless modified, terminated or extended by order of the Board of Haskell County Commissioners.

            IT IS SO RESOLVED AND ORDERED.
